Frequently Asked Questions About Outsourced Financial Planning Assistance

Financial planning outsourcing is when an Australian advice firm or financial planner delegates administrative and support tasks — such as SoA preparation, client file management, and compliance documentation — to a dedicated offshore staff member. At Shasha, your outsourced financial planning assistant works remotely as a dedicated team member, operating inside your systems, under your processes, and aligned to your business hours. You manage the work; we handle everything else — recruitment, HR, IT infrastructure, and ongoing support.

An outsourced financial planning assistant can handle a wide range of back-office and administrative tasks including preparing Statements of Advice (SoAs) and Records of Advice (RoAs), Xplan and COIN data entry, client review pack preparation, portfolio reporting, fee disclosure statements, appointment scheduling, client correspondence, compliance documentation, and general workflow management. Essentially, any task that doesn’t require an Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) can be handled offshore.

An outsourced paraplanning service gives you access to a skilled financial planning professional at significantly lower cost than hiring onshore. A local paraplanner in Australia typically costs $70,000–$100,000+ per year in salary alone, before superannuation, leave, and overheads. Through Shasha’s outsourced paraplanning services, you pay a flat monthly fee with no hidden costs, no payroll obligations, and no long-term contracts. The work quality is equivalent — our staff are trained financial services professionals — but the cost savings can reach up to 60%.

Shasha charges a one-time setup fee when you hire, then a flat monthly rate based on the role and hours required. There are no hidden payroll costs, no superannuation obligations, and no insurance premiums on your end. Compared to hiring a local financial planning assistant — which typically costs $55,000–$75,000 per year — most practices save between 50% and 70% by outsourcing through Shasha. Contact us for a no-obligation consultation and we’ll provide a tailored quote based on your specific needs.

Yes. Outsourcing administrative and paraplanning support tasks does not breach ASIC obligations, provided the licensee (your practice) retains responsibility for advice quality and compliance oversight. Your outsourced financial planning assistant handles support tasks — not the provision of financial advice itself. Shasha is certified to ISO 27001:2022, which means our data security and information management systems meet internationally recognised standards. All work is conducted within your existing systems and workflows, ensuring your compliance framework remains intact.

Most practices are up and running with a dedicated financial planning virtual assistant within two to four weeks of initial contact. Our process is: consultation to understand your requirements → candidate shortlisting from our talent pool → interviews with your top three candidates → selection and onboarding. If your preferred candidate isn’t the right fit, we keep searching at no additional cost. There are no obligations until you hire.

Our outsourced financial planning assistants are experienced across the financial planning software platforms and portfolio administration systems commonly used by Australian advice practices. Whether your firm uses practice management tools, client relationship platforms, financial planning software, or wrap platforms, we recruit and match staff based on your specific system requirements. If you have a preferred platform or workflow setup, let us know during your consultation and we will find the right candidate to fit your environment.
